Wayne has taken over the running of the Business as Managing Director
Michael again attended the IMARC conference and exhibition at the Melbourne conference centre.
Michael was retained by a WA engineering house to provide refractories engineering advice related to a Minerals processing project.
Michael conducted a 2 day Refractories Training course (incorporating API936/560) at South 32’s Alumina refinery.
Wayne attended RTA-Yarwun to assist with a calciner shut/repair
Wayne attended South 32 to provide QA assistance for their No 5 Boiler outage.
Wayne provided shutdown QA assistance to RTA (Yarwun) for their Calciner outage.
Wayne’s term as IRE branch President came to an end at the Institute’s AGM, although Michael remains Secretary and Treasurer.
Michael visited South 32 to provide pre-shut planning assistance for a Calciner turnaround.
Wayne attended South 32 Alumina refinery to assist with QA during their Calciner 6 outage
Michael conducted a one day introductory Refractories Engineering course at South 32 near Collie in WA.
Michael participated in a study for Liberty House (Smorgon) regarding the stability of a Furnace roof for ongoing asset management assessments.
Michael attended the annual International Minerals and Resources Exhibition and Conference (IMARC), held in the Melbourne Convention Centre. During the 3 days, Michael met many old colleagues, met some very interesting new acquaintances, and participated in a Nickel industry round table discussion.
Both Wayne and Michael attended the 10th IRE convocation, held this year, at the Mercure Sydney Airport hotel, as both Execuive Members and presenters. Wayne is the current branch President, and Michael is Secretary and Treasurer.
